Shame, Installation, Ready-made, 2017
The installation Shame is rooted in Wang Chen's teenage years, which were marked by a harrowing encounter with the social stigma surrounding the tampon. This thought-provoking installation confronts the taboos surrounding menstruation in Chinese culture. It has been meticulously crafted and set up in advance in her studio. Upon viewing, viewers are invited to watch as a tampon gradually saturates with red paint, eventually dripping onto the floor.
